I saw this great video over on Engadget from New Scientist. It is showing how a magnet can mess with your speech center but at the same time you can sing because that is controlled elsewhere. They also talk about the long range effects of this discovery.
Totally Fan Girl posted about the Best Star Trek Episode, Ever. I think I am totally with her on this one!
Tevatron data suggests new, unknown particle—but not the Higgs (via ARS Technica) Can you believe that an accelerator that is coming up with such great data and possible discovery may be shutting down soon due to lack of funding?
So am I the only one who is curious as to Kevin Rose’s new venture? Well, wonder no more! (Via TechCrunch)
There is a great interview with Bruce Boxleitner for the release of the Tron movies on BluRay! (via Hero Complex) While I liked Tron (the 1st one, haven’t seen the new one) and Babylon 5 but I will forever love Scarecrow!!
Ok, I have a problem with 3D tv. I think it sounds cool but between the glasses and everything, it just doesn’t seem practical. But things may be changing. Apparently quantum effect fuels color fast holograms (via New Scientist). This may be a huge step toward glasses free 3D tv!
Here are some of my favorite geeky links that I have found this week!
Normally I wouldn’t say that a car is a geeky thing. But when it is a Tesla, that is geeky! Engadget has a review of the Roadster 2.5. Gorgeous!
GeekDad has a great Dork Tower comic for all of us who have seen the PBS show Dinosaur Train! I have thought about this every time it is on and always wondered if I should tell the kids;).
A MIT professor has developed an artificial leaf that can provide power for a house! I would love to see something like this in the market. That is where I think we will see how well it really works.
Gotta love a Turing Machine! From the description:
mechanical universal Turing machine (given an infinite track). It uses ball bearings as its memory and has no electrical components, other than a small motor used to drive it. This is a quick overview video filmed at Maker Faire UK 2011.
Comic Alliance has The Complete Marvel Comics Family Trees by Joe Stone [Infographics]. They are quite fun!
Engadget has found some cute but pricey steampunk usb cuff links.
Just sharing a couple of geek posts for this early Sunday morning!
First, IO9 has a great post about 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Batman.
Then secondly I found a great post over at Felicia Day’s Blog! She is going to be starring in a new webseries based on the video game Dragon Age. It is starting during the summer. The trailer looks pretty interesting and I can’t wait to see it.
