T Shirt Infinity Scarf

I have been seeing t shirt scarves all over Pinterest and every where else! There are so many different varieties so I decided to give it a whirl myself.

All I needed was a cheap, stretchy t shirt and a pair of scissors. I got a cheap, stretchy turtle neck on clearance at Walmart (get the biggest one you can, more material).

First thing, cut off the bottom seam. Then you cut of a measure off between the arm pit and the bottom just however wide you want your scarf. I like a thicker scarf and so I am getting at least 2 out of this 3x shirt. Then stretch! I handed one side to my 9 year old and we pulled and pulled;). The edges will curve in and basically cover the rough edge, the more you wear it the less you will see it.

That is it…. A scarf… It is a great way to get a custom scarf to match something in your wardrobe or just to use up those extras shirts hanging around! It is a nice, cheap, no-sew gift!!!!

It is so easy that I feel a little silly writing about it;).

Hallmark Christmas Fun Giveaway!!!

I recently received some awesomeness from Hallmark for Christmas!!! And now that it is officially December, I wanted to give you a chance to get some too!!!

First up is Tell the Elf Game! I always loved Mad Libs growing up and this fun game reminds me of it. The Elf will ask you a series of questions. Once they are all answered it will tell you a story them all! Elf’ed of course;). One person could answer all the questions but I think it is more fun in a group! Maybe passing it around the car when driving to Grandma’s house? So fun!

We also have Merry Okee. I mean who wouldn’t love Christmas karaoke to begin with? It comes with a songbook and you can sing as your own voice or as an elf voice! That can lure even the most self conscious person into participating!

These are so much fun! We are going to be having a ball with them all season. And how would you like your own set?? Hallmark has decided to give one of my lucky readers an early Christmas gift!!!

A Beautiful and Feel Good Mother’s Day Gift

A great gift with a great blessing!

I know this is going to be a shock but Mother’s Day is Sunday;). I know, you were planning on shopping tomorrow of Saturday. It is a common story….

So let me recommend a great set of gifts. Get Mom a piece from Macy’s Heart of Haiti. Mom gets something beautiful(jewelry, decor, etc) and you all can feel good about supporting a great cause!

The products are actually made by artisans in Haiti! This beautiful work helps support and feed these artisans in Haiti! And we all know how economics work. So by introducing new capital into the society it will help the entire community!

This is an opportunity to be deliberate with our shopping and encourage new industry in an area that needs it desperately!

I love this metal heart that I received! And there is so many other well priced, beautiful pieces! You have some many choices both online and in many of the Macy’s stores. So what are you still doing here? Go shop!!!

(Disclosure: I was given this beautiful piece to review!)

Its Time to Party, Abba Party

How can this not be fun?

Ok, the last few weeks have been so crazy!!! So it was great when I got an opportunity to have an Abba You Can Dance House Party to celebrate the new Abba: You Can Dance Wii game. What you may not know about me is that I was raised by a bit of a disco queen so I when I was quite little I learned and loved Abba (and Donna Summers, the Commodores, etc;). So I was stoked when they had a minor resurgence with the A*Teens (My niece and nephew listened to them) in the late 90’s and then again with Mama Mia on Broadway. And yes, I have Mamma Mia! on dvd;).

After falling in love with Ubisoft’s Smurf Dance Party, I couldn’t wait to get together with a couple of friends to check out the Abba dancing experience. My 2 friends had very different exposure to both Abba and the various dance video games. Mrs. LeftyBrown was super familiar with both Abba and the dance games while Sara was the complete opposite. I had a ball introducing Sara to both experiences;). It was so much fun and we even got NerdDad to join us for a couple of songs.

But onto a little of the game specifics. Up to 4 people can play at once. Something that makes this really interesting it that sometimes there is 1 on screen person/dance that everyone does, sometimes 2 and sometimes 4. So it ends up that everyone can actually be doing a separate dance which can be hilarious in and of itself. At one point a couple of us were trying to dodge each other;).

With 26 songs there are a lot of choices that will give us many more hours of fun than just 1 night. You can choose between fast and slow along with varying difficulty levels. There are even quite a few of Abba’s lesser known songs.

Overall we all loved this game. The 1 thing that was a little disappointing is that the game only uses the remote but not the joystick. All the other games that I have played on Wii have always used both. It isn’t horrible but just a little disappointing.  But I like the game in spite of it!

So have you tried this yet? Any other dance games you just love? I want to know!!!!

Hurling Toward Christmas: A Giveaway

Ok, am I the only person who is blown away by the fact it is almost Halloween and Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away? And it is less than 2 months until Christmas? I already feel so behind!!!

There are 2 things that always get pushed to the end of the do list. Oh heck, I need to be honest, the 2 things that often tend to fall off my to do list because I don’t have time to get around to them. The 2 things are Christmas cards and thoughtful Grandparent gifts!

Shutterfly can have you back on both accounts! They have super cute holiday cards that you can just order now! Then just address them through November and send them out the day after Thanksgiving. Then you totally look like a rock star!

Then you can use Shutterfly’s photo books as the perfect Grandparent gift! I mean, what grandparent doesn’t want pictures of their grandkids? Just lay in all the super cute pictures you have taken through the year and order. How easy can that be?

Well, it could get a little easier! How would you like to win 25 cards? Shutterfly is helping me to give away 2 sets to 2 of my lucky readers!

Smurfs Dance Party Review

My Girls: Shaking it to the Smurfs!

Do you know what I love? I love it when I can give my kids something they view as a reward but I know is a tool to get what I really want;). That is what I got with the Smurfs Dance Party video game!

I gave this to my kids as a back to school gift but they only get to use it when their homework is done. So when their homework is done they get to have the physical education that they dread so much. Oh wait, no they get to have a dance party!

As a mom I love this game even beyond the manipulation aspect;). I have had a really hard time finding dance or music games that are truly family friendly. The Smurfs Dance Party truly is age appropriate! The music and the movements all seem really G rated. I have kids at all levels so the fact that each dance is rated for both effort and difficulty is great. You can find some easy dances that really get them moving. That really gets the wiggles out. I also love the fact that all 4 kids can dance all at the same time!

And here is my confession, I love to do it with them! Yes, I feel just a touch silly but the kids absolutely love the fact that I dance with them. It is amazing how special it can make them feel when you take 3 minutes out of your day to play.

I highly recommend the Smurfs Dance Party! It would be a great gift that a family would love to receive!
