Clean ‘N’ Flip Charts: Review and Giveaway

Ever wanted your kids to help out around the house but they once again seemed to forget what they are supposed to do? What you think about a system that lays it all out for them so you don’t have to be there telling them what to do every step of the way? I can say that especially as a homeschool mom, I had to get a system because if I had to do it all…well, we would all be in trouble.

I recently got the opportunity to review a collection of Clean ‘N’ Flip charts from Trigger Memory Systems and their Laundry for Kids, Bedroom Cleaning for Kids and Zone Cleaning for Kids do just that. Each chart goes through step by step and tells kids what they need to do. It sets out to teach kids the logical way of attacking these jobs. The Laundry for Kids has check boxes where you can point out the jobs you want your kids to do (not erasable). The Zone Cleaning chart is dry erase chart so you can personalize with any extra jobs that go with each room. You also have a spot to assign a job to a specific job and a time of day to do.

Overall, I think this is a really great idea for anyone who doesn’t have an effective chore system. But at $30 for all 3 it is a bit pricey for the convenience of having it all laid out for you. But if you want to check them out for free….

Blog Tour and Giveaway! Queen of the Road

I recently saw an opportunity to become part of a Blog Tour for a book Queen of the Road and I pondered. Then I saw the subtitle, The True Tale of 47 States, 22,000 Miles, 200 Shoes, 2 Cats, 1 Poodle, a Husband and a Bus with a Will of Its Own, and I was hooked. And that was before I found out the married couple was 2 shrinks!

This book is a hilarious look at Doreen Orion’s huge adventure but it doesn’t stop there. It shows a real relationship between a husband and wife with all its own uniqueness and compromise. In addition it seems to show Doreen’s own struggle to make sense of her husband’s desire to spend a year on a bus (she asks, “Why can’t Tim be like every other normal husband and live out his mid-life crisis by having an affair or buying a shiny new Corvette!?”). I am also touched by the vulnerability she shares with all of us in their often not-so-glamorous adventures. Even all you submissive wives (which I hope to count myself among) have to admit that we wouldn’t be real cool in the same situation.

I thought this book was funny and was an easy read. There are also interesting drink recipes that go with each chapter. I haven’t tried any, yet;). But you don’t have to take my word on this book because I have a few other opinions for you.

“A Charles Kuralt-Albert Brooks-style romp where they meet up with nudists, robbers and more. Required Reading.” –The New York Post

“Eat, Pray, Love – without the depression – meets Confessions of a Shopaholic – without the ditz.” – Denver Magazine.

“A charming, insightful and – most important – hilarious book that evokes the best of Bill Bryson and David Sedaris, but spotlights the unique voice of a gifted memoirist.” – Jonathan Kellerman, New York Times Bestselling Novelist

In honor of Queen of the Road I have a giveaway! I am giving away the PC game Discovery: Seek & Find Adventure. It is rated E for Everyone and is for Windows only (sorry Mac users).

Simple Gifts and a Giveaway!

Gift giving can be fun and cheap and I put a cute little gift together just to prove it. This is a nice scrapbooking set. There is a simple 8 page scrapbook, chipboard tag set, paper set, and letter stickers. The papers go together and it is going to be easy to ship. That is it!

To prove how easy it is to ship, I am giving it away as part of Bloggy Giveaways Carnival. Leave me a comment and tell me what one of your favorite things are. Make sure you include your email or have it in your profile. I will close comments Saturday, 11/1, and then the winner will have 3 days to contact me.

Making Cute Clips and a Giveaway!

Cute clips eh? You wouldn’t believe how easy and inexpensive they are to make.

Materials:

Alligator Hair Clips (you get them at a beauty supply place, you can get 60 for less than $5)

Ribbon ( I got the red ribbon 75% off $1.99 and the striped as part of a 3 pack for 50 cents)

Fray Check

Glue Gun

Binder Clip (unseen)

Process:
Cut a length of ribbon and apply Fray Check. Then place the Alligator Clip on the binder clip (this prevents the clip from glueing shut). Then place hot glue on first section of ribbon that goes on the top inside and press down. Then put hot glue on the clip itself and press the ribbon all along the clip. Tada! You are done!

Now for the giveaway…As part of Bloggy Giveaway’s Carnival I am giving away these 2 sets of clips! All you have to do is comment.

Make sure that you have your email in your profile or include your email in the comment so I can contact you if you win! Comments will be closed Saturday, 11/1, at 6 pm and I will email the winner. You will have 3 days to contact me.
